| Concerns were raised by a motorist caught out by the speed reduction from 50mph to 40mph heading eastbound beyond the Forfar Road junction.
The driver was hit with a ticket for exceeding a maximum which she said she was unaware of because it was impossible to see the sign.
She said, “I consider the 40mph sign at the Forfar Road roundabout on the Kingsway, travelling east towards Pitkerro Road, to be completely unsatisfactory. If a large lorry is in the inside lane, it is impossible to see the small 40mph sign if you are in the outside lane.
“There is only one small 40mph sign between the Forfar and Pitkerro roundabouts, compared with several on the westerly section of this stretch of road.”
The motorist suggested the sign at the junction be moved to a more visible location, and the limit be painted on the road as it is elsewhere on the Kingsway.
Trunk roads in Tayside and Fife are the responsibility of Perth-based company BEAR Scotland. A BEAR spokesperson said, “There is a legal requirement for signage, and the signage in this area is well within that.
“If there is a specific issue the driver wants to talk about, then BEAR will come back to them on that.” |
