Cycle run raises cash

A young Angus man was so moved by the plight of stroke patients at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee that he decided to cycle between Aberdeen and the City of Discovery.
Iain Winter (22), from Monifieth, saw his father suffer a stroke earlier this year and enter the hospital’s Ward 4.

While his father recovered in the specialist unit, he saw how ill the patients were and was prompted to raise money to help ease their pain. His charity work took him on a journey from Aberdeen’s Pittodrie Stadium to the outskirts of the city at Monifieth.

The fruit of Iain’s laborious 64-mile trek — £680 — was handed over to staff at Ward 4 today.

He said he intends to take his charity work to another level some time in the next 12 months with a cycle run covering the length of Scotland.
