Police issue warning to Tayside car enthusiasts
Tayside car enthusiasts, who are heading for an event in central Scotland later this week, were warned today that police in the area may seize vehicles involved in anti-social behaviour.
It’s expected a number of “cruisers” and “boy racers” from north of the Tay will be among those taking part in a gathering in Falkirk town centre on Thursday.

Police, in conjunction with the council, will consider using the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2004 to invoke dispersal powers if required, and could seize cars.

Superintendent Neil Macdonald said, “Many of those coming to the Falkirk area come from elsewhere in the central belt and even further afield.

“We recognise that this is a legitimate pastime — as long as modifications to vehicles are properly documented and are within the law — and that the majority of those who take part in this hobby are law-abiding.

“I would urge all concerned — including the minority of individuals who indulge in potentially dangerous driving and who create a noise nuisance — to be mindful of their behaviour.

“It might be an interesting hobby to participate in, but people have to live close by and their quality of life is important.

“The use of dispersal powers is obviously not a route we consider taking lightly, especially as there has been ongoing dialogue between all concerned parties.

“But if anti-social behaviour continues in the manner that it has done to date, we will have no option and will not hesitate to use the powers.”
