| Young folk in Forfar were able to try out a £30,000 mobile half-pipe allowing them to show off their daredevil moves no matter where they live.
The local authority has spent the cash on the ramp which will travel to areas where no such fixed equipment exists.
“The unit will be used in urban and rural areas where demand for such a facility is high and local wheeled sports groups will be consulted about its use,” a spokeswoman explained.
It was secured as a stop-gap after the council acknowledged the difficulty in funding permanent facilities.
The two-metre high unit attaches to the back of a minibus or four-wheel drive vehicle, weighs three tonnes and measures nine metres by nine metres when opened out.
It has two platforms, which double as a youth shelter underneath.
The unit will be operated as play equipment and can be used by anyone free of charge. |
