| Edward Baxter has donated land to the community surrounding the hill which has brought the idea for a community woodland a step closer to becoming a reality.
The community woodland will be known as the “Gateway to Clatto”, at Mr Baxter’s request.
A new group has also been formed to take plans forward to the next stage and they are urging as many people as possible, of all age groups, to get behind the project.
The first meeting of Clatto Community Woodland Group will be held on Monday, September 26, at 7.30 pm in The Village Inn, Pitlessie.
Anna Craigen from the Community Woodlands Association will be there to explain about community woodlands and give examples of what has happened elsewhere in Scotland.
Organisers are urging everyone from the local community who is interested to attend the meeting.
As progress is made on the plans there will be plenty for all age groups in the community to get involved in.
Plans for obtaining grants and funding will be developed and basics of woodland management, including planting and maintenance will be undertaken. |
