| Danny Furey (55) of Blackwood Court, Dundee, is a keen worshiper at Menzieshill Church but finds it difficult to go as it is built on a hill and surrounded only by steps.
Having been born with cerebral palsy, Danny has used a wheelchair for most of his life, but has been permanently dependent on one since having an operation on his neck 10 years ago. This has left it nearly impossible for him to be a practicing member of the church community.
As a result of his frustrations Danny, with support of the church, decided to do his bit and give a boost to improve disabled access to the building.
Using an electronic scooter, Danny took off from Dickson Avenue and travelled around the most of the city including the city centre, Dens Road, Logie Street, Ancrum Road eventually finishing at the Church on Charleston Drive.
Church elder George Aitken said, “We are very proud of Danny. It is a tremendous effort that will benefit many in the church.
“We have an aging population that also find access to the church very difficult so he has had lots of people supporting him.” |
