| The fair affords delegates the chance to network and make contacts, and one lucky Dundee business won the chance to showcase itself for free at the fair.
Visions Sound and Light won the opportunity to host a stall in a prize draw, joining over 70 other stands from business throughout the Tayside area.
Speaking at the event was Tom Heron, director of Priority Management (Scotland), who explained the concept of ‘working smarter, not harder’.
Dundee & Tayside Chamber of Commerce and Industry chief executive Mervyn Rolfe said, “We always strive as a chamber to lead the way with innovative methods of bringing the local business community together with our ‘try Tayside first’ philosophy.
“Since its introduction in 2003, the fair has proved to be a most valuable opportunity for both our membership and other businesses to build contacts and network.”
Mr Rolfe added, “There is a definite increase in the number of environmental companies that are attending this year.
“With a seminar also being run by the Scottish Industrial Symbiosis Programme, the Business Fair has clearly a ‘green’ feel to it this year.”
Chamber membership and development manager John Fearn said, “The fair is an excellent opportunity for the local business community to source new suppliers and seek out potential clients.
“Learning about the competition and the exchange of knowledge is an essential part of existing in business today.
“We hope that through the facilitation of the fair we can provide not only our membership, but the entire local business community with the opportunity to do just that.”
Completing an action-packed programme was a special ‘speed-dating’ workshop for local businesses, courtesy of the Scottish Industrial Symbiosis Programme (SISP), the Abertay Centre for the Environment (ACE) and Perth and Kinross Council.
Representatives from various companies sat around tables, with each person having a short time to say a bit about their company.
When everyone had spoken, some individuals moved on to a different table and the process started again.
The event was inspired by the results of a Tayside-wide survey, which showed businesses would like to see more opportunities for industrial symbiosis in Tayside, meaning partnerships to help businesses share knowledge, expertise and contacts. |
