A Dundee model left the city today dreaming of being crowned Miss Scotland.
Nicola Rigby (23) has made it to the last 10 of the competition and was travelling to Glasgow to compete in tonight’s final.

If she wins, Nicola will go on to represent Scotland in the Miss World contest in China.

“I’m really excited to have got so far,” said the former Grove Academy pupil.

“I entered the competition hoping to do well, but it’s a surprise to be in the final. It would be so good to win, not just for myself, but to raise the profile of Dundee.”

Nicola recently graduated from Dundee University with a psychology degree.

She works as a fitness instructor with Dundee City Council and has been on the books of a Glasgow modelling agency for two years.

She hopes success in the final will open up the door to lots of new opportunities.

“I would love to win Miss Scotland,” she said. “Winning would give me a lot more opportunities to go travelling and meet interesting people.

“I’d love to get as far as I can as a model. My ambition is to take part in a big fashion show like London Fashion Week.

“In the long term, I’d like to use my degree to carve out a successful career.”
