Arbroath set for ‘Tutties in the park’
Organisers of a gala day in Arbroath on Sunday are putting the final touches to what is sure to be a bumper event for the town.
The Tutties Neuk Gala Day Association will host the event at the town’s Low Common on Sunday afternoon.

All the money raised at the event will go towards multiple sclerosis sufferers in the Arbroath area.

An organiser said, “The Tutties Neuk Gala Day Association was set up in April and is the brainchild of several local people who wanted to make a difference, particularly to young people in the Arbroath area.

“We felt that most of the money raised from charity fundraising events normally found its way into the national coffers, so we thought that if we were going to hold this Gala Day then we would do it to benefit people we knew and not people we didn’t.

“We felt that being disabled shouldn’t mean that your dreams can’t come true as well.”

The event starts at noon on Sunday, when the opening ceremony will be conducted by Phil ‘The Hat’ Petire and the British Legion Pipe Band.

During the day, teams from pubs in the town will take part in tug of war and five-a-side football competitions, and there will also be a range of childrens races including sack, egg and spoon and wheelbarrow.

There is a also a rugby training camp for youngsters and Montrose and Arbroath rugby teams will go head to head during the afternoon.

As well as the fun events, there will be live music throughout the day including appearances by bands Cheekah, Little Wolves and the Rosely Ceilidh Band as well as discos.

There will also be a number of stalls featuring crafts, fresh fish, plants, home baking, bric a brac and the ‘Christmas gifts you didn’t want’ stall.
