The High School of Dundee’s £3 million sports centre, currently under construction, received a massive boost today — a cheque for £12,057.
The money, raised by the Patrons’ Association of the High School, will go towards the new Mayfield Sports Centre, which is due to open next summer.

It will be available to community groups for hire at evenings, weekends and holiday periods, and will also offer coaching in a wide range of sports.

The funds were raised at an art exhibition, auction and sale organised by the Patrons’ Committee at St Andrews Bay Hotel in April.

The event, attended by 180 people, featured works by some of Scotland’s best-loved artists, including Jack Morrocco, Nael Hanna, Alfred Malocco, Joan Gillespie, Douglas Phillips, Jackie Gardiner, Derek Robertson, Joe McIntyre, John Stoa, Alistair Ross and Fiona Haldane.

The cheque was presented by Euan Webster, chairman of the Patrons’ art sale committee, to rector Michael Duncan and chairman of the High School of Dundee Foundation, Sheena Leadbitter.
