FIGHT WILL GO ON
Dundee’s fight for what they believe is justice from the SPL will continue even if the top-flight refuse to re-open the Hassan Kachloul affair (writes Tom Duthie).
Today, the Dark Blues were still awaiting a legal opinion following last week’s decision to only fine Livingston for signing the Moroccan as an amateur.

They also want the SPL board to re-examine the case because they believe the basis for their judgment, that Kachloul could have been signed as a professional, was flawed.

The SPL are unlikely to agree to that because they believe their ruling was sound. That is likely to see Dundee head for the SFA with an appeal, which would have to be lodged by Thursday.

Ironically, that’s a course Livingston are set to follow because they say their actions were based on advice from the SPL.

Even if that is shown to be the case, Dundee are likely to press on in search for compensation as opposed to getting their place in the SPL back, and will want to know how such advice could have come from top-flight officials.

“What we want are answers. All along, all we have done is ask the question were any rules broken and what is the proper course of action if they have, and we will keep asking until we get answers,” said a club spokesman today.

Meanwhile, there was no comment from Dens on the chances of Gerry Britton joining as player/assistant manager to boss Jim Duffy.

The man of many clubs, including Dundee, finished last season as player/coach at Motherwell, having started the campaign as co-manager of Partick Thistle.
