| Dundee and Dunfermline have objected to him being played by Livi as they battled against relegation because it’s claimed he was also employed in the club’s commercial department.
That led to the matter being raised with the SPL in writing by both clubs and will now see the West Lothian club up before the beaks at a special board meeting next Thursday.
If they are found to be in breach of the rules there is a chance they will be docked points that see them and not Dundee relegated.
Dundee, meantime, have decided not to publish the contents of its letter to the SPL, in which it formally asked for the investigation.
The club feels its best interests are presently served by delaying publication of chairman Bob Brannan’s letter to SPL secretary Ian Blair.
In a statement, the club said it welcomes the SPL’s decision to seek clarification from Livingston re a possible contravention of league rules and is content for the meantime to leave this matter to the SPL.
At DUNDEE UNITED, the attempt to sign Bristol City striker Lee Miller is continuing, though it is now likely to be another week or two at least before his future is sorted out.
Miller is with Scotland until next Thursday and suggestions Celtic want him if Craig Bellamy does not join up permanently at Parkhead have cast a doubt over his Tannadice switch.
Bristol City and United have also had a difference of opinion over his fee. Hearts and Aberdeen both had £275,000 bids accepted before dropping out of the race to capture him and Bristol are likely to hold out for at least as much from the Tangerines.
ST JOHNSTONE have arranged four pre-season friendlies, all away from home. On July 16, they meet Highland League outfit Inverurie (3 pm), followed by Cove on July 18 (7.30). On July 20, a young Saints side will take on Stenhousemuir (7.30) with a more experienced line-up facing Forfar Athletic the following night. |
