Are bike assaults linked?
Police are trying to establish whether two indecent assaults in Dundee are linked.
Similar descriptions have been given of a youth in both cases, and in both incidents he was riding a BMX bike.

The first assault took place between 11.40 am and noon on Friday in the underpass below Marketgait North leading to the Bell Street multi-storey car park.

A young female student was walking through the tunnel when she was approached and indecently assaulted.

She was extremely shaken but unhurt.

Later that night, a second woman was indecently assaulted as she walked in Clepington Road between Court Street and Mains Loan.

The 19-year-old was with a group of friends around 11.20 pm when her attacker approached on a silver BMX bike.

He indecently assaulted the woman as he rode past and then turned and exposed himself to the group before making off in the direction of Mains Loan.

A Tayside Police spokesman today appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The attacker is described as being between 14 and 17, of slim build and around 5ft 9 ins.

At the time of the attack he was wearing a black or navy hooded top, black or navy tracksuit bottoms and white scruffy trainers — possibly Adidas.

The suspect in the first assault was described as being between 17 and 19 years old.

Anyone with information should contact the police on 01382 223200 or speak to any officer.
