| Council recycling centres and points are being used more than ever as people take responsibility for their waste cans, paper, glass and other items.
A regional campaign by the Scottish Waste Awareness Group has seen the use of facilities increase by around 30% since its October launch.
An increase in the range of recyclable materials taken at council centres and points, as well as a positive uptake of kerbside collection schemes, has boosted the figures.
Special bins for cans, paper, glass bottles and jars and textiles have begun appearing at various points across Tayside, allowing residents to quickly dispose of their rubbish.
Anna Beswick, assistant campaign manager, said, “We are delighted that people across Tayside recognise the importance of dealing with their waste responsibly and are increasingly using their recycling centres.
“By doing so, they are continuing to make a big difference to recycling rates in Tayside.” |
