DUNDEE HAVE WHAT IT TAKES
Three defeats in a row have dragged his team back into the thick of the relegation dogfight, but boss Jim Duffy remains convinced his players have what it takes to claw Dundee to safety (writes Tom Duthie).
Defeat at Dunfermline on Saturday would see the Dark Blues drop to the bottom of the SPL with just two games of the season left, but Jim believes if his men show the approach of the last couple of games, they can open a six-point gap to the basement.

“In the games against Kilmarnock and Dundee United we have not lacked organisation or spirit, and if that remains the same we can get the points we want,” he said today.

“I honestly feel that all we might be lacking is a break or two. It is important the players realise that and keep approaching games the way they have been.”

Recent bad luck with injuries and illness continued today, with Mark Fotheringham a doubt for this afternoon’s reserve clash with former club Celtic in Airdrie, and Neil Barrett also struggling to make that one because of a virus.

“Even if players are fit by the weekend, when they are missing training for a day or two with knocks or the bug that’s been about the place, it hits your preparations. However, there is no point in complaining, because it is just something that happens in football.”

Getting needed run-outs in what was a very young side this afternoon were full-back Stephen McNally and midfielder Scott Robertson.
