| The Tangerines last win over their neighbours pre-dates the goalkeeper’s signing. But he feels the time is right to set the record straight.
“I’ve played in two of these games and we’ve got a couple of results I felt we didn’t deserve. If we get the breaks we didn’t get in those games, I feel we can get a result this time and that might be what we need because we have had bad luck in the last few I’ve seen or played in,” said Bullock.
“We are on a good run at the minute and that’s four games unbeaten we’ve gone going into this one.
“We’ve played some good teams on that run and, if we can go to Dens and win, that will take us above Dundee and we can take our confidence into three very important league games after this.
“There would still be work to be done, but a win would be a big step in the right direction.”
The Englishman also admitted he has been taken aback by the passion of City of Discovery fans when it comes to this derby and, as much as he is aiming for an away win this time, hopes the battle against relegation is successfully tackled on both sides of Tannadice Street.
“To be honest, down south you only tend to look at Celtic and Rangers and assume they are the big games for all the teams.
“When you come up here you find out how much the derbies mean and what a big game it is. That’s been shown by the fact that it will be a sellout and we will have something like 4500 fans coming to Dens to back us.”
Interim boss Gordon Chisholm believes those fans will have a big part to play if United are to end their derby drought.
“The fans have been right with us as we’ve battled for results and that we have sold all our tickets for this one is a big factor,” he said.
“Knowing they will be behind us in numbers and making a lot of noise is a boost to the boys.
“And we are all aware of how important this game is. No one needs to tell us it is and we will be going looking for a result.”
After recent successes over Hibs in the Scottish Cup semi, Rangers at Ibrox and Hearts in a vital league game, Gordon is looking for another big game performance.
“We’ve had some good individual displays in recent weeks.
“But if I was handing out praise it would be for the way we have performed as a team and that will be the key to getting a result."
United expect to have injury doubts Jason Scotland and Derek McInnes fit and in the squad. |
