Tayside trio on course for stage life

Three talented Tayside youngsters have gained a place on the musical theatre course at The Dance School of Scotland in Knightswood, Glasgow.
Lisa Lynch (16), a pupil at Monifieth High, Stephen Mitchell (16), of Morgan Academy, Dundee, and Marc McBride (17), of Grove Academy, Broughty Ferry, were selected after a rigorous audition process.

Only 14 were selected out of in excess of 150 applicants.

The two-year course has two aims — a focus of preparing for a career in musical theatre in singing, drama and dance. The students participate in a number of public and in-house performances.

Visiting guest teachers and practising professionals from all areas of theatre teach classes.

Lisa, Stephen and Marc are all members of Tread the Boards Youth Music Theatre and have appeared in principal roles.

Lisa and Stephen were also coached in dance by Marlyn Parrot of the Studio School of Ballet who has had several former pupils who have also won places at Knightswood.

Lisa and Stephen also received vocal training by Fiona Bodman of the Fiona Bodman School of Music.

Marc is indebted to Rachael Yuile for his musical training and he received vocal training from Mike Ellacott, well known in local music theatre circles.

All three are appearing in the forthcoming Tread the Boards production Annie, produced by Brian and Agnes Boardman, at the Gardyne Theatre, Dundee, from Monday to Saturday next week.
