| The number seven inner circle is to be re-routed and will no longer pass along Kilberry, Rankine and Gardner Streets as well as Lawside Road and Albany Terrace.
People living in and around the area are fuming at the changes and ward councillor Charles Farquhar and the city council transport department have both been inundated with complaints. “The residents around the Kilberry Street area are kicking up hell over this and are getting a petition together,” said Councillor Farquhar. “It is something I am concerned about.”
A spokesperson for the council said officials are in discussion with the bus operator about the alterations. However, it is understood a decision has already been rubber-stamped and will take effect on May 1.
Travel Dundee operations director Andrew Hunter said the moves were made to improve reliability and that ample alternatives were being put in place.
“There has been a slight alteration to the number seven service,” he said. “It will no longer go down Kilberry Street, Rankine Street, Gardner Street, Lawside Road and Albany Terrace.
“However, the majority of these areas will now be served by the number three and four services and operate all day as they previously didn’t.
“Rankine and Gardner Streets will not be served by these services but we feel services in the area already offer suitable alternatives.
“We have to look at usage and to try and please as many people as possible.
“This is a lot to do with improving the reliability of the service. We will be monitoring the situation to see how people respond.” |
