| Brian McNicoll, Stuart Reid and Stuart Anderson, all aged 23, received the £1000 first prize for their business, Dynamo Games, which develops games and other applications for mobile phones.
The trio specialise in designing in-depth strategy games, with their latest project, a football manager game, due to be launched with a major publisher shortly.
They have also developed a first aid guide that enables mobile users to access advice on up to 21 topics, ranging from how to treat burns and bleeding, to choking and broken bones.
Various other town-planning and general strategy games for mobile phones are in the pipeline.
They will now go on to represent Tayside at the Scottish final in Glasgow on May 17.
The partners, who met while studying applied computing at the University of Dundee, decided to team up and start their own business after spotting a gap in the market for more in-depth strategy games for mobile phones.
Their new football management game will be available in six languages and on 60 models of phone.
Within two years they expect to have created eight new jobs and their ambition is to be the market leader in their field.
Brian McNicoll said, “We’re delighted to have won this award. It’s a great boost for the business to get this recognition, and we’re looking forward to representing Tayside at the next stage.”
Duncan Robbie, of Shell LiveWIRE said, “The title goes to Dynamo Games because, not only does the business have outstanding potential, but the partners demonstrated a sound understanding of the importance of thorough preparation, sound business planning and lots of creativity.
“I wish the good luck for the next stage of the Shell LiveWIRE awards.”
