WATERFRONT REFLECTIONS

The main speakers at today’s event (from left) Doug Binnie, past president of Dundee Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mike Galloway, director of planning and transportation, Ken Laing, city engineer and Lord Provost John Letford.

The partnerships and challenges involved in the ambitious project to create a new central waterfront in Dundee were explored today at Discovery Point.
Future Reflections, the Development of Dundee’s Waterfront, formally opened by Lord Provost John Letford, launched Dundee and Tayside Chamber of Commerce’s Tayside Construction Week.

Among speakers giving an insight into the massive waterfront proposal were Dundee City Council’s planning and transportation director Mike Galloway and city engineer Ken Laing.

A number of other meetings are scheduled for other parts of Tayside this week.

These include public lectures on development and regeneration projects, imaginative workshops for youngsters and a topical Question Time-style evening event with a panel of industry experts tackling concerns and issues posed by a local audience.

The week will climax with the annual construction ball — this year under the banner Glitter Ball, which is expected to attract 400 revellers from Tayside’s construction and related industries.
