SAINTS HIT
St Johnstone are minus the suspended Ryan Stevenson and Peter MacDonald for Saturday’s trip to QOS (writes James Masson).
Stevenson is banned after being sent off against Airdrie United and MacDonald has gone over the penalty points barrier.

And Saints could also be minus Steven Andreson. The central defender was taken off against Airdrie United with a broken nose and there is also a fair amount of swelling on his face.

Team boss Owen Coyle is trying to fix a closed doors game for this week but, failing that, he’ll arrange a match between the players at the club.

Meanwhile, midfield man Ryan McCann won the Man-of-the-Match award in Saturday’s home defeat against Airdrie United.

And that was despite being played in a position that isn’t his favourite one.

“I’ve been operating wide right in the middle of the park, but, although I prefer a central midfield role, I’m happy enough to play on the right,” said the former Celtic player who is in his second spell at Perth after playing for Hartlepol in between.

Although Saints lost on Saturday, Ryan felt it was, otherwise, an “enjoybale week”, the club’s first under Owen Coyle since he was appointed as their new manager.

“The training has been very high tempo and I’ve enjoyed it,” he said.
