The Maggie’s Centre for cancer care in Dundee is hoping to make a big catch this summer by reeling in anglers willing to pay for the pleasure of a day on the water.
Today saw the launch of the Maggie’s midsummer angling challenge, which will see teams of fly-fishers compete at Ledyatt Loch, Piperdam and Kingennie Fisheries.

The trout-fishing event takes place on June 10 and will be hosted by TV personalities and keen anglers Fiona Armstrong and Paul Young.

Fundraising co-ordinator Valerie Busher said, “We hope to be as successful as last year and raise £10,000 on the day. There will be a charity auction with fabulous items including a guided weekend in the last great wilderness for the winning team.”

Other prizes donated include salmon fishing on the South Esk and top-quality tackle.

The entry fee for teams is £300 and even if the fish aren’t biting, contestants are still guaranteed a good meal thanks to a spit-roasted pig barbecue.

Entry forms are available by contacting Valerie at the Maggie’s Centre on Dundee 496384.
