Saddling up for Dundee Cyclathon

way by football mascots Deewok and Terry the Terror.

The sixth annual Dundee Cyclathon was launched at City Quay today with the help of the mascots from the city’s football clubs — Dundee FC’s Deewok, and Terry the Terror from Tannadice.
The mascots put their shoulders to the wheel to set Lord Provost John Letford and Claverhouse Rotary Club president Jim Rogers on their way at the announcement of the arrangements for the charity event on June 12.

Cyclists will cover all 26 miles of Dundee’s Green Circular Route, starting and finishing from City Quay.

Last year 400 pedallers raised £20,000 for charities of their choice and, given similar backing, the Rotary Club organisers are hoping this year will see them break £100,000 raised for good causes by participants in the Cyclathons.

Organiser Harrison Watson said, “It is not a race, it is a cycling fun day out and everyone finishing will get a special certificate and commemorative medal.”

Entry fees are £5 for an individual, £10 for a family and £15 for teams up to four.

All riders are also invited to a civic reception and buffet in City Chambers, when money raised for the chosen charities can be handed over.

Information and entry forms are available from Beverly Horner by telephoning 01382 225933.
