| The Scottish Solar Energy Group created the van, named Solar One, to demonstrate that it’s possible to meet all the energy needs for a vehicle of this kind from renewable sources.
The group also hope it will prove to the public that solar energy is surprisingly well suited for use in Scotland.
Solar electricity generation panels work better in cold climates, and recent research has shown Scotland has one of the best climates in Europe for using solar energy to heat buildings.
The project has been supported by the solar industry in Scotland, for example AES of Forres, who are Scotland’s only manufacturer of solar heating panels. |
