Dundee posties on the mark
Dundee has come fourth in Scotland in the speed of delivery of first class letters, according to the Royal Mail, which today said it had had its best seasonal performance for 10 years.
The target set by Royal Mail was to have 92.5% of first class mail arriving the next working day after posting and Dundee’s posties were right on the mark.

The Scottish average was 92%, while second-class mail reached its target level of 98.5% of letters delivered within three working days.

Although Dundee’s figure for the three months up to December slipped marginally on the previous six months, the winter months are seen as posing more of a challenge for posties.

Ian McKay, director of Scottish Affairs for Royal Mail, said, “Everyone has worked very hard to bring stability back to the business after the massive but essential changes last spring.

He said service quality was a priority and it was never enough simply to return to profitability.
