NO MOVE FOR MILNE

STEVEN MILNE — linked with a return to Dundee.

Dundee boss Jim Duffy has dismissed reports linking him with a move for former Dark Blue Steven Milne (writes Graeme Finnan).
The striker has suffered a frustrating time since leaving Dens Park for Plymouth last summer and is currently battling back from a knee injury that has kept him out of Bobby Williamson’s south coast side.

That has prompted speculation that the 24-year-old may opt for a move north of the border in the close season, with Dundee boss Duffy high among his suitors.

However, that possibilty was knocked straight into touch this morning, when Jim described the story as “rubbish”.

The Dens men were facing Motherwell at home in a reserve game this afternoon, with several first-team men taking part.

“Bobby Mann, Joel Kitamarike, Garry Brady, Glenn Larsen and John Sutton will all get a run at some stage,” said Jim.

One man who didn’t feature was Iain Anderson, who is not yet fit enough to be considered.

Meanwhile, Jim was an interested spectator at last night’s SPL draw between Motherwell and Saturday’s opponents Hibs at Fir Park.

The Easter Road outfit have been flying high under Tony Mowbray, but have seen their cushion in third place whittled down to just three points by arch rivals Hearts.

However, Jim was suitably impressed by what he saw last night and knocked back suggestions the Hibees may be showing signs of a slump in form.

“They are still a very good side. In fact, both teams played well last night,” said Jim.

“Hibs created numerous chances and their attitude throughout was outstanding.

“I think they’ve lost only one game recently — to Rangers — and I would take that any day.”

Brent Sancho and Stevie Lovell, who were struggling after Saturday’s win over Motherwell, were both able to take part in training today.

McCALL KEEN TO CAPTURE STAR DUO
Dundee United boss Ian McCall will shortly be using all his powers of persuasion to get Mark Wilson to sign a new deal (writes Graeme Finnan).
The 20-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Tangerines as the club has struggled to escape the clutches of the SPL relegation zone this term.

That form hasn’t gone unnoticed and, with several clubs south of the border known to be keen on the wing-back, Ian is anxious to get something sorted out sooner rather than later.

The same goes for Barry Robson, who has also done well since his switch from Inverness Caley Thistle.

“I’d hoped to have spoken to Mark and Barry by now, but simply have not had the chance,” said Ian. “Hopefully, I will be able to sit down with both of them in the very near future.”

Meanwhile, Robson joined both Collin Samuel and Jason Scotland in the Tangerines second string who went down 3-0 at Livingston yesterday.

PRAISE FOR HANNAH
St Johnstone manager John Connolly today had words of praise for captain David Hannah, who, he claims, has “done well” this season (writes James Masson).
After a sticky start, the former Dundee United and Celtic man has been one of Saints’ most influential players, and John said, “David was dropped for a spell earlier in the season, but worked hard to get back into the team and has done well ever since. He responded to his time out of the side very well.”

Meanwhile, left-back Kevin Fotheringham looks like missing Saturday’s away fixture against St Mirren due to a groin injury.

Saints were due to face Clyde away a week on Saturday, but, with Clyde hosting Celtic in the Scottish Cup that day, the game has been re-dated for March 22.
