Police seek car as blaze probe continues
Detectives in Dundee are attempting to trace the driver of a Ford Fiesta in connection with a suspicious blaze that caused £1 million of damage at a factory in the city, writes Stefan Morkis.
The blaze at Winters Pioneer Ltd in Dunsinane Avenue started around 10 pm on Wednesday.

Firefighters spent more than 12 hours tackling the blaze and, at its height, six jets were trained on the burning building as fire crews fought to bring the fire under control.

A red Rover 620 parked next to the factory was later identified as the seat of the blaze.

Police inquiries have now revealed that a dark blue Ford Fiesta was seen in the area between 9.30 pm and 10 pm on Wednesday, around the time the massive blaze began.

Detectives have said that they are keen to trace the driver of the car as they may have information that may prove useful to them in their inquiries.

The blaze caused extensive damage to the premises.

Tayside Fire Brigade’s deputy firemaster Jack Hutcheon said that 90% of the building’s metal storage warehouse had been damaged and its roof had been affected.

The fire had also caused “considerable” damage to the adjoining office building.

The warehouse contained packaging materials, office supplies, paper and chemicals.

Anyone who knows who was driving the Fiesta or has information regarding the vehicle, or was in the Dunsinane Industrial Estate area at the time of the incident, is asked to contact Tayside Police on Dundee 223200.
