| Kevin Morgan, retail manager for Red Cross shops in Scotland, said the response has been such that most shops are struggling to cope with something like 10 times as much stock as under normal circumstances.
“So many clothes have been handed in by the generous Scottish public that existing volunteers are struggling to sort, steam, price and label everything to be sold on to raise money to fund our important work abroad and in the UK,” said Kevin.
Although happy with all the support received, Kevin stressed, “We need more volunteers to help sort the clothes, toys, books and other donations so we can get them onto the shelves and start generating some cash.”
Volunteers are needed to give as little as one hour to help out in the stock room of their local shop.

n Two members of the St Clair Veterinary Group, Kirkcaldy, will fly to India next month to visit the Strathaven and Madurai Mercy Home in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
Veterinary surgeon Maureen Geraghty set up a trust in October 2002 for the home, which cares for orphans and is in an area devastated by the tsunami.
Along with veterinary nurse Dawn Wallace, Maureen will spend two weeks pinpointing areas where resources can be most efficiently used.
Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so at the St Clair practice on Kirkcaldy’s Pottery Street or its Glenrothes or Leven branches. |
