| “Let’s not have a disaster like last year!”
That’s the fervent hope of the cast and production team of Dundee’s Downfield South Panto Group, as they put the finishing touches to their show, Aladdin, which opens next Wednesday at the church halls.
Not that there was anything wrong with last year’s production itself.
The problem was a technical one – a power failure while the audience were taking their seats.
“Despite all our efforts to fix the problem there and then, the show had to be postponed until the following night,” said producer Beth Mather.
“The audience took it very well, all things considered, and most of them were able to come back on the Sunday, when we enjoyed a great closing night.
“The electrical fault was sorted out, so we’re hoping this year’s panto will go ahead without any hitches.”
Aladdin, the company’s 23rd annual production, opens next Wednesday and runs each evening until Saturday, January 29. Tickets can still be ordered by phoning Dundee 825359. |
