| The cash was raised by children donating their tuck money on Friday and from the school trip fund.
Acting head teacher Gerry Munro said, “Normally when the children come back from their holiday all the talk is about Christmas.
“But this year the children were all talking about the tsunami disaster and were keen to do something. I would like to thank the children for being so generous — they never let us down.”
Meanwhile, the shop’s manager, Ruth Plummer, praised Dundonians for their “phenomenal” response to the tsunami disaster.
Ruth said the store had received hundreds of bags of donated goods in the last fortnight, as well as over £10,000 in cash donations.
She said, “The whole community has got behind the appeal, which is a tribute to the generosity of people in the area. We have had literally hundreds of bags of donations.” |
