| The 27-year-old was working at Pizza Express in South Methven Street when a man entered the restaurant and assaulted her, threatening her with a weapon, before making off with what police described as a “small sum” of cash.
Detectives are now investigating the robbery, which occurred at around 9.10 last night.
Police said the armed thief ran off in the direction of St Paul’s Church after the incident.
“The woman, while not injured, has been left extremely shaken as a result,” a police spokesman said. “The man responsible is described as being aged in his mid-twenties, between 5 ft 4 and 5 ft 6 in height and of slim to medium build.
“He has bright blue eyes, a pale complexion and auburn hair with sideburns.”
The man was wearing a black woollen hat, a dark blue or black zip-up bomber style jacket, baggy beige chinos, and dirty white trainers.
His face was partially covered with a black scarf.
Detective Sergeant Paul Fagan, leading the inquiry, said, “While it was raining heavily last night, the man responsible for this robbery appeared to be relatively dry when he entered Pizza Express.
“This may mean that he has been taking shelter in close proximity to the restaurant or that he had transport close by.
“We need to hear from anyone who was in the South Methven Street and High Street areas of Perth last night who may have seen this man prior to or after the robbery,” DS Fagan added.
Anyone who knows the person responsible, or remembers seeing a man acting suspiciously in the area, should get in touch with Tayside Police in Perth on 01738 621141 or speak to any police officer.
Information can also be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
Meanwhile police are viewing their own CCTV footage, and visiting businesses in the area in the hope their cameras may have caught sight of the thief.
Officers were also carrying out door-to-door inquiries in High Street and North Methven Street. |
