A former crime-blighted community in Forfar, which has been transformed by local residents, has received an Angus Ambassadors award from Angus Council.
A community-led campaign in Graham Crescent has seen the area banish its earlier reputation as a hotspot of vandalism and racism, as residents tackled thugs and anti-social behaviour head-on.

Their efforts have now been marked by the local authority, who awarded the area with the Community Ambassador Pride of Angus award, which was sponsored by Angus Housing Association.

The residents assocation was born after a catalogue of complaints in the area that prompted a meeting between townsfolk, police and Angus Council, and the organisation has gone from strength to strength.

Local councillor Glennis Middleton said, “The community have really pulled together. They really are an example of what a good community can and should be.”
