| Taxi split funeral procession |
| I CANNOT believe the total lack of respect I witnessed recently. |
| I attended a family funeral on November 16, at Lochee West Church, Dundee. After the service, the hearse pulled out of the church heading to the Lochee bypass, followed by two black funeral cars.
The first car had turned when a taxi came up Lochee High Street, did not stop, and therefore split up the funeral procession.
This was bad enough, but to make matters worse, the taxi driver made no attempt to pull in to the garage, or the bus stop, or even turn off at the roundabout.
He sat between the two cars for the length of the Lochee bypass, until he reached his junction to return to Lochee High Street.
I was disgusted and I and members of my family will certainly not be using this taxi firm in the future.
On a brighter note, I would like to thank the lollipop man and woman who stopped what they were doing and took off their caps as the funeral procession passed on the way to Balgay Cemetery. It was very touching. — Mourner, Dundee.

| Had to pay fine |
| LIKE LETTER writer Angry, I, too, have been a victim of legalised extortion in Dundee.
I live in Clepington Road. A few weeks ago, during an evening football game, I returned home with my five-month-old daughter and could not get parked within a quarter of a mile of my house due to the match.
I also parked on the double yellow lines and discovered a ticket had been issued at 8.05 pm.
I appealed and received a letter stating the double yellow lines were clearly marked and I should not have been parked there. I had no option but to pay the fine.
I also believe the council are only out to make extra money as I was told the only evenings the wardens are out are during football games.
I am sure the powers-that-be would not like to see their partner/ sister/daughter struggle to walk a quarter of a mile whilst carrying a baby, all associated paraphernalia, shopping etc.
I never thought of contacting my local councillor. I would be interested to know how Angry gets on. — In Sympathy. |

Music talent . . . Brendon Neill
| BRENDON NEILL, the 12-year-old Perthshire boy who has three self-made music albums to his credit, his current release being “Brave Soldier”, deserves fulsome praise.
However, I can’t find his albums anywhere.
When you go into record stores, thousands of CDs confront you and it is well nigh impossible to locate a newcomer.
My advice to Brendon is to cut a single vying for chart status. — J. I. Matthew. |
| Buses together after wait |
| THE NUMBER 17 Whitfield/Ninewells bus service must be the worst in Dundee. On November 18, the 5.08 pm No. 17 from Ninewells to Whitfield failed to appear on time in Crichton Street, where I and other disgruntled passengers were waiting.
We are not strangers to this bus running late but we didn’t think we would have to wait (shivering) until 5.34 pm before it appeared.
To add insult to injury, two No. 17s appeared together. When questioned, the driver confirmed that his was the earlier bus running late.
While we were waiting the following buses passed — three for Fintry, four for Downfield, one circular, one outer circle and three for St Andrews. They didn’t appear to have been delayed for any reason.
I phoned Travel Dundee’s office on Friday morning and the person I spoke with said there were no reports regarding this delay and it just must have been running late due to traffic.
No apology was forthcoming and it was suggested to me to put my complaint in writing, but I can tell you I have the T-shirt on that one.
This is not an isolated incident as the 8 am from Whitfield to Ninewells often does not appear.
Come on, Travel Dundee, get your act together or maybe contact with the Traffic Commission is the only avenue left to explore before something is done to improve this service. — Irate Passenger.

| No mail for over a week |
| I WRITE in disgust about the Royal Mail delivery times. We are both disabled and have been waiting for a registered envelope which was posted last Wednesday with important items in it.
My husband and I have not had any mail for over a week.
Again, today there has been no sign of the postman. We are very angry over this. — Angry Residents, Whitfield, Dundee.

| Not as tasty |
| I AGREE with your correspondents Nan and Peter Braid. It is impossible to locate a good loaf these days. But it is not only bread. As a soup aficionado, I have great difficulty in sourcing quality vegetables. Today’s carrots, onions and tomatoes are not nearly as tasty as in the past. I blame the farmers. — Len Till, Fairmuir, Dundee.
