School’s artistic welcome

Pupils sitting on the tiled steps

Pupils at Craigie High School in Dundee have come up with an artistic way to welcome visitors to the school.
Thanks to funding from Dundee Contemporary Arts, well-known ceramicist Stephen Bird was able to visit the school and work with first and second year pupils to create a mural.

Art teacher Sandy Hope said, “Stephen is a very successful artist, and it was great for the school to have him along.”

Each pupil in the four art classes painted a tile, and the tiles were all placed on the steps leading up to the school entrance. The mural reads ‘Welcome to Craigie High.’
