| Jackie Taylor (45) has been in Nepal for the past nine years, having spent the six previous years also in Asia. She has worked for UNICEF, the European Union, WaterAid and the United Nations.
Speaking about the Nepal project Jackie said, “It is called Namaste Banepa and it was established eight years ago by Sudarson Karki. He was sponsored through school but realised not everyone was as lucky, so he decided to do something about it. “Today, Namaste Banepa has 35 children in school but it is struggling to make ends meet.
“For just £90, one child will receive a year’s education in a government school. This covers school and exam fees, books, stationery and two school uniforms.
“If anyone is interested in sponsoring a child, they can contact me on namastebanepa(AT)wlink.com.np or a donation can be made directly to the Bank of Scotland, King Edward Street branch, Perth, into account number 00874634 (J A Taylor).
“I may be working a long way from home. But the work is very rewarding,” says Jackie. |
