Fife grenades find: houses evacuated
Ten houses were evacuated after two wartime hand grenades were dug-up by an astonished householder in Rosyth this morning.
The woman, who had been digging in her garden in Admiralty Road, recognised the weapons immediately and called the police who alerted the Army’s bomb squad.

The ordnance disposal troops noted that the grenades still had their activating pins intact — meaning the bombs were potentially live.

With homes in the street evacuated for around 20 minutes, the Army team took the grenades to nearby Inverkeithing quarry where they were destroyed during a controlled explosion around noon.
