NHS staff will all soon be more computer literate after a new IT training centre was opened at the former Monifieth Health Centre today.
The new facility, officially opened by NHS Tayside chairman Peter Bates, will provide health board staff, including GPs and their staff, with the necessary skills to ensure they are able to operate IT systems efficiently and effectively.

Each member of the 30-strong team moved from their premises at Ashludie Hospital, which they had outgrown, to the old Monifieth Health Centre last month.

The new training centre hosts two computer training rooms, a video conferencing room and a number of quiet rooms that can be used for learners to come in and use for some quiet computer based training.

Jenny Bodie, NHS Tayside’s Head of IT Implementation and Training, said, “The staff within the centre are dedicated to providing the best possible IT training service throughout NHS Tayside.

“The new building provides us with improved office and training facilities, which will ensure we continue to provide this high quality service.”

NHS Tayside has two other IT departments, at Maryfield and Ninewells, which together have developed clinical systems that have helped enhance patient care.
