| Along with a long list of other clubs, the Tangerines have been tracking the 27-year-old, who had signed a short-term deal with Clyde to put himself in the shop window here after ending a spell in Qatar.
And, while Kerkar did not sign up for a bigger outfit before the end of the FIFA transfer window at midnight, he will still be on the move in the next day or so, with United the likely destination.
Under his agreement with the Bully Wee, he was released from his contract late last night and, as a free agent, is still permitted to sign for a new club.
That’s left him free to talk terms with United and, along with his agent, he was due to do that at Tannadice late this afternoon.
“It’s something that’s still ongoing, but we’ve been told he was released from his contract last night, so, hopefully, we can get something sorted out with him,” said United assistant boss Gordon Chisholm.
With others, including Plymouth and Kilmarnock, remaining in the hunt for Kerkar, United are remaining cautious about their chances of landing him.
Defender Scott Paterson, meanwhile, has suffered another setback in his long-running battle for fitness. In training yesterday he aggravated the hamstring problem that has dogged him since pre-season and will have to ease up on his workload.
Meanwhile, there may have been no new arrivals at DUNDEE, but there was a welcome return for centre-half Tom Hutchinson in the reserves at Motherwell yesterday.
Dogged by injury for most of his two years at Dens, Hutchinson is fit again and completed 90 minutes of the 2-0 Fir Park defeat.
He still has some way to go before his fitness is up to first-team levels, but boss Jim Duffy was happy with his showing yesterday.
Fellow centre-half Lee Wilkie, while still months away from playing, is also making good progress after his knee surgery at the beginning of the year.
Dundee and United have confirmed they will play their CIS Cup ties on Tuesday, September 21. The Dark Blues are at Livingston, while the Tangerines host Clyde. |
