Two die in Perthshire crash

Emergency crews examine the wreckage of the car.

An early morning accident on a Perthshire road has claimed the lives of two men.
A red Ford Fiesta left the road and collided with a tree at around 7.20am on the B827 Braco to Comrie Road, known locally as the High Road. No other vehicles were involved.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where firefighters from Perth and Auchterarder found the car had been on fire.

However, it had been extinguished prior to their arrival by a quick thinking passer-by using an extinguisher.

The two men were examined by a doctor, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment to extricate the men from the wreckage.

The road was closed whilst accident investigators worked at the location, four miles north of Braco.

The names of the victims will not be released until a positive identification has taken place.
