| West Pitkerro property company West Residential said Angus Council planners had been keen to avoid the luxury detached house competing in style with the existing mansion that is used as offices by NHS Tayside, so a modern design was requested.
The result, said West Pitkerro managing director Martin Donachie, is an “innovative”, single-storey home expected to sell for over £400,000.
The four-bedroom house has been given the name “Pavilion” by the developers and at 300 square metres, certainly isn’t dwarfed by the comparison.
Mr Donachie said, “It’s very much an open plan building with sliding external glass panels and is set in mature grounds. It has timber cladding on the outside, underfloor heating, two en-suite bathrooms and a family bathroom and a large open-plan lounge/dining room/kitchen area with a central sunroom with roof lights above it.
The stable block, formerly used as technical workshops and a laundry by the NHS Tayside, is being developed as a fully enclosed courtyard.
Built in 1865, the stable block will provide three homes — a single-storey dwelling of 150 square metres and two two-storey units with a floor area of 200 square metres.
The smaller home will cost about £200,000 and the larger ones at £250,000. It’s hoped the development will be completed by Christmas or early New Year. |
