| Dundee City Council’s ‘toothology’ campaign to fight tooth decay will target all pupils in all years of the city’s primary schools.
The scheme will promote dental health with imaginative tools like puppets, plastic food and foam teeth.
Council administration leader Jill Shimi was at the launch of the campaign at St Clement’s Primary School this morning.
She said, “The city council is using Quality of Life funding to ensure that young children can get brushing habits established early to try to ward off dental decay.
“This is part of a wide-ranging strategy by the council to improve the health of our school pupils.”
Fiona Liddell, staff tutor for health from Dundee City Council’s education department, said, “The council will provide on-going support to the campaign, which encourages children to brush their teeth, enrol with a dentist and cut down on their sugar intake.” |
