| The Dens Park club today confirmed that contact had been made in regard to goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
A spokesman said, “I can confirm that we have had an approach from an English club for goalkeeper Julian Speroni.
“However, there is no question of us doing anything in haste — or having to do anything in haste.
“We are currently speaking to the club over the terms of their offer.
“We certainly won’t be making any final decision on this until manager Jim Duffy returns from annual leave, which will probably be around the end of next week.”
While the Dark Blues did not identify the English club, it is believed to be Crystal Palace, newly-promoted to the English Premiership after winning their way through the play-off stages.
While the full offer is believed to be half-a-million, it is understood the player’s fee and other clauses such as number of games played weigh heavily in the deal.
At the end of the day, it is the amount of money the cash-strapped Dens Parkers will be left with which will count, and that will be the deciding factor in any deal.
Existing Dundee season ticket holders have just one day left in which to renew their tickets for the new term. The club shop at Dens is open from 9 am to 5 pm tomorrow. All remaining seats go on general sale as from Monday.
