| The LK Today show, which forms part of GMTV’s breakfast entertainment, was filmed at the University Tower Cafe with panoramic views of the Tay and North East Fife forming the stunning backdrop.
Lorraine took time to give her support to a forthcoming charity abseil which students will be undertaking for the Arthritis Research Campaign.
She was ‘roped in’ to help by 20-year-old Kerr Millar and his twin sister Megan.
The students, who are studying architecture and English respectively, both suffer from arthritis.
Lorraine was installed as the university’s first female rector at a ceremony yesterday and celebrated with a now-traditional initiation pub crawl around Dundee.
If that left her feeling under the weather it did not show as she chatted with guests and students and took the opportunity to talk up the city where her husband was born.
Lorraine said she had a “brilliant, fantastic time yesterday” and viewers saw footage of the ceremony.
A short montage also featured many Dundee landmarks including the Discovery, the Law and the homes of both the city’s football clubs.
Her main guest was one of Dundee’s most famous sons, Hollywood actor Brian Cox, who talked of his childhood in the city and the love he still holds for it as well as discussing his role in the upcoming epic Troy.
She also talked with Dr John Lucocq, from the university, who outlined some of the ongoing research work carried out by scientists in Dundee.
Students were not left out either and three female students were given the opportunity to model the latest high street styles to a nationwide audience.
