Three cheers!

The Dundee Dee-lites get into the spirit at the Cheerleading and Dance Championships.

Dundee’s Caird Hall was full of cheer today as it hosted the 5th annual Cheerleading and Dance Championship.
Over 1000 cheerleaders from all over Scotland competed and spectated today. Girls as young as six impressed the audience as they competed on stage, making pyramids, waving banners and shaking pom poms.

Three teams from Dundee — the Dundee Dee-lites, Scottish bluebells and the Dundee Devils — took part in the competition, which is also being held on Tuesday and Wednesday. Teams from all over the UK will take part tomorrow. Over the course of the three days, the Caird Hall will have welcomed over 3500 performers. Stephanie French, vice-president of the World Cheerleaders Association, said, “Its so good to see so many enthusiastic performers here.

“There is a real buzz in the hall, and its great to see all the teams supporting and cheering for one another.”
