JIM’S PLEA TO FANS
Dundee manager Jim Duffy urged his team’s fans to forget any plans to boycott the city derby on Sunday (writes John Brown).
He said, “The Dundee derby has always been very special and it would be a shame if the fans, by taking this action, ruined what is always a great spectacle. The last time the teams met at Dens it was a great advert for the city, there was a great crowd of over 10,000, and it was a brilliant atmosphere. There is always that extra bit of banter from the Dundee FC fans and I would hope to hear that from them on Sunday.

“Football rivalry in Dundee is traditionally very good and it’s always very healthy. I’m very keen for all our supporters to be there, although I understand their point of view and their problems.

“We don’t know if in the future things are going to change. but it looks as if this is the last derby of the season. This is not Dundee United’s concern and the best way for our fans to support the club is for them to attend this game and to give us the vocal support and create a special atmosphere.”

There were no fresh injuries from the Partick game and it should be the usual pool which will face United on Saturday, with the exception of Nacho Novo, who is suspended.
