| Robson just missed out on selection for last night’s win over Livingston, but is expected to be ready to face the Steelmen at Tannadice, when victory would move the Tangerines up to fifth in the SPL.
And, if he is, his manager has confirmed he will be restored to the starting line-up, leaving a choice between Andy McLaren, one of last night’s scorers Jason Scotland, and even Billy Dodds for the berth alongside top scorer Jim McIntyre in attack.
In Robson’s absence at Livi, McLaren moved to left midfield and Trinidad international Scotland came in up front to grab his first United goal.
Ian will take time to decide who will get the nod, though he admitted to being impressed by Scotland as he staked his claim for a regular starting place and a new contract for next season.
“Jason has taken time to settle here, but there is no doubt he has ability, and he showed that with his goal and performance against Livi.
“He takes the ball into feet better than anyone at the club and, with big Marvin Andrews at the back for them, we felt that was an important asset. If Robson is fit, I will have to decide who plays up front, and that is a nice problem to have.”
Several players took minor knocks in the 3-2 win that saw United take a significant step towards a top-six place, but all are expected to be OK for Saturday.
