| The Dark Blues will play host to the league leaders in front of the TV cameras on Wednesday week, St Patrick’s Day, and, on the night, away fans will be given the South Enclosure as well as the Bob Shankly Stand and a small section of the main stand.
That means an increased away ticket allocation of 5800 and, with the Hoops closing in on the league title, all those places will be snapped up.
That was not the case when the teams met in front of BBC cameras at Dens last season.
Dundee fans were allocated the South Enclosure that day, but the total attendance of only 9200 was well short of the 11,800 capacity.
In fact, even removing the 1800 seats for there from the home allocation, leaves around 600 more tickets than home fans bought that day.
Next week’s switch will see some season ticket holders being upgraded to main stand seats, but the club believe fans will appreciate the reasons behind their move to the other side of the ground.
“We still have a significant shortfall in cash to make up between now and the end of the season if we are to survive,” said a spokesman.
“Our fans have been superb in their effort to help save the club, and we know that those who normally sit in the South Enclosure will understand the reasons behind these actions.”
Tickets for the game are now on sale from the club shop at Dens, and Dundee are also looking for a big turnout when they play host to Aberdeen this weekend.
This afternoon, the U/21s were in action against Celtic at Airdrie and included were first-team men Brent Sancho, Neil Barrett and Sebastian Kneissl.
Defender Sancho, out since the CIS Cup semi-final against Livingston a month or so ago with groin trouble, was expected to confirm his availability to face the Dons.
“Brent has been doing a lot in training, but needed a game and, assuming he’s come through OK, I would think he would be fit enough to be considered for Aberdeen on Saturday,” said U/21 coach Ray Farningham. “Neil has also been injured, but is fit again, and, after not starting the last first-team game, we felt Sebastian could do with getting 90 minutes.”
Returning to the impending Celtic visit and a limited number of away tickets are also available from Dundee Direct. Fans, however, will have to head for the shop in person in order to buy the briefs. |
