ACTIONS ARE EXPLAINED
Dundee United boss Ian McCall this afternoon provided an explanation for his enthusiastic reaction to his side’s late win over Aberdeen on Saturday (writes Tom Duthie).
After the Tangerines had fought back to win 3-2 with two goals in the dying moments Ian ran onto the pitch and punched the air in delight.

That did not go down too well with Dons fans, some of whom were housed right behind the United technical area.

Today Ian stressed that at no time had he gestured towards them or become involved in any verbal exchanges.

“This is an explanation not an apology. I had a feeling of injustice and, obviously when we turned the game around, I was very happy as you could see by my reaction,” he said.

“However, it had nothing to do with the Aberdeen fans and none of my actions were directed at them. If it had been United fans behind the dugout I don’t think anyone would have said anything about it.”

Looking ahead to Sunday’s derby at Dundee, Ian confirmed that injured striker Jim McIntyre will again miss out because of a calf strain, but Chris Innes could recover from a groin problem in time to play.

Jim Paterson has a knee knock and it is not yet clear what his chances of making the squad will be. Keeper Paul Gallacher missed training with a minor knock, but his condition is not causing any concern.

United’s ticket allocation for the Dens Park visit is now on general sale from the ticket office at Tannadice and the club shop in Victoria Road. Dundee tickets are available from Dundee Direct at Dens.

Tonight's U/21 visit to Pittodrie has been postponed.
