| Police were called to the vicinity of the Drumgeith Bar at around 1.30 pm to deal with an incident, which they believe to be related to the football game, which resulted in four people being apprehended for breach of the peace.
A further eight people were arrested at the match, which United won 3-2, for a variety of offences which a police spokesman described as “relatively minor.”
Skirmishes between rival groups of supporters were reported in the Fintry/Mill o’ Mains area on the outskirts of the city shortly after the game ended.
A number of police vehicles attended the Jet filling station in Forfar Road to stop a running battle.
Extra officers were drafted in after intelligence was received by police that so-called “casuals” from Aberdeen and Dundee had arranged to meet for a fight.
Nine people, believed to be in the city in connection with the match, were arrested and a report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
