Hoping to raise up to £100,000 at dinner
What do a racehorse called Toad Hall, golfing legend Gary Player and England’s Rugby World Cup hero Jonny Wilkinson have in common?
They’re all contributing in one form or another to a major fundraising dinner hosted by Dundee-based chartered surveyors, valuers and property managers J & E Shepherd in Glasgow next Tuesday night at which it is hoped to raise between £50,000 and £100,000 for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

The 700-guest event at the Hilton Hotel will be held in the presence of trust president HRH The Princess Royal.

A year’s ownership of Toad Hall, a 10-year-old winning hurdler and steeplechaser stabled and trained at Whitaker & Normile Racehorses at Glenfarg; a 45-minute, one-to-one coaching session on the art of bunker golf from Gary Player; and a Newcastle Falcons rugby strip signed by the current squad, including ace kicker Wilkinson, are all part of a spectacular list of auction prizes available on Tuesday night.

Other top prizes in a separate grand draw on the night will be a Mini Cooper and a Rolex watch.

Guest speakers will include comedian and entertainer Fred MacAulay, snooker star Dennis Taylor and renowned after dinner speaker Willie Allan, a teacher at Buckhaven High School.

J & E Shepherd senior partner John Bennet said today the company also hoped to have a number of “surprises” to spring upon guests at the dinner.

The company, one of the biggest in its field in Scotland, has been involved in charity fundraising for a number of years, but next week’s dinner is the single biggest event organised by J & E Shepherd to date.”
